Why Community Chaplains?
The New Bridge Community Chaplaincy (NBCC) is a Chapter of the New Bridge
Coalition of North America, an inter-denominational and truly independent
organization supported by various churches, individuals and businesses.

NBCC is a unique service provided to individuals and families in the Sault Ste.
Marie and EUP area.

This community chaplaincy service is available to individuals and families on a
24-hour, 7-day per week basis by simply calling our toll-free number.

The EUP Chapter exists to demonstrate to our neighbors a compassionate
Christian life style as exemplified by the Samaritan in Luke 10:27-37.

Today's lifestyles and cultural pressures cause a many family concerns and
stress.  These stressors relate to children, finance, marriage, social, and work
relationships.  To help people cope with life today the military, many hospitals,
prisons, law enforcement agencies, state and federal legislatures, schools, and
growing numbers of private businesses have chaplains in the workplace to
address these needs

The obvious question then is why should individuals or a family not have a
chaplain available especially in today's stress filled life?
The answer, they definitely should!

What Does a Community Chaplain Do?
Community chaplains are licensed and specially trained professionals who work
with young and older individuals or their families on a confidential basis helping
them cope with the struggles of life related to stress, loss, youth, illness,
addictions, work and spiritual questions.

Community chaplains will come to you.  They will meet you at your home or
meet with you at a public place of your choosing. Chaplains are available seven
days per week and after hours for emergency needs in times of crisis.

A community chaplain’s work is one of presence, walking alongside you and not
control. Chaplains work at a primary care level just like your family physician.
Their goal is to address the root or primary cause of problems encountered in
life before they develop into crisis events.

Community chaplains will make visits to homes, hospitals, schools, funeral
homes, jails, and prisons or where necessary to assist people in time of need.

Community chaplains are not preachers and do not wish to take the place of
someone's clergy.  Community chaplains avoid imposing their beliefs on others,
showing sensitivity for the moral, cultural, social and religious standards of
people with whom they have contact.

What Are Some of the Benefits?
•        Help and guidance during times of crisis and loss
•        Determine your purpose in life.

What Are the Cost Considerations?

or emotional problems, the chaplain will refer the individual to a professional
therapist for treatment.  There may be a cost related to such treatment.
